Is assembly required?
The CouchCane requires assembly and installation on the chair. For detailed instructions on how to assemble and install the CouchCane, download the assembly instructions below.
What types of chairs work with the CouchCane?
The CouchCane is compatible with any four-legged couch, sofa, chair, lift chair or recliner. The front and rear legs of the chair must sit on top of the base pads of the CouchCane to hold it in place. The CouchCane adjusts in depth to fit chair leg depths of 17″-33″ and is not intended for free-standing use. If your chair does not have four legs, has a round base, or has legs with depths shorter than 17" and deeper than 33″, the CouchCane will not work with your chair. Before purchasing the CouchCane, we recommend measuring the depth between the front and rear legs of the intended chair to make sure they fit in the 17″-33″ compatibility range.
Can I use the tray table without a chair?
No, the CouchCane is not intended for free-standing use. It must be installed underneath a couch or chair to be held in place.
Are the base pads reversible?
Yes, the base pads can be reversed to use the CouchCane on either side of the chair. Please follow the instruction manual when assembling to ensure the base pads are properly assembled.
Can I add a tray table to the CouchCane?
There is not an accessory tray table for the CouchCane. If you are interested in a tray table, upgrade to the Stander Assist-A-Tray. The Assist-A-Tray features the same assist handle as the CouchCane, but also comes with a swiveling tray.
What is the difference between the CouchCane and the Stander Chair Cane?
The primary difference between the CouchCane and Stander Chair Cane is the handle shape. The CouchCane features a square-shape ergonomic handle, while the Stander Chair Cane has a shepherd's hook shaped handle with soft foam padding.
